How to Fix Realtek Audio Stuttering on Windows 10 in 2023 Easily!

If you are watching a video or playing a song and the sound has a stuttering/distortion it’s infuriating.

In this guide, I will teach you How to Fix Realtek Audio Stuttering. I also had a similar issue and I spent a lot of time learning how to fix it but I couldn’t find the right solution. It took me 10 hours to find the right solution. So I decided to write about it. I hope it saves your time.

How to fix the stuttering Automatically

Step 1:
Download and Install the Application

Step 2:
Let the application scan your PC for Missing Drivers

There are 4 options for resolving the issue. You can try each one at a time until the problem is resolved.

Method 1: Change the WiFi over to Ethernet

WiFi connections can cause sound stuttering/distortion. If you’re utilizing a WiFi network, switch to Ethernet.

If this strategy does not work for you, try another.

Method 2: Run the audio troubleshooter

The built-in audio troubleshooters in Windows can detect a lot of sound issues and resolve the issue, just simply follow the wizard’s instructions.

Here’s how to use the audio troubleshooter:

1) To open the search, press Win+S (the Windows logo key plus the S key) on your keyboard.

2) In the search box, type ‘troubleshoot settings,’ and then pick Troubleshooter settings from the result list.

3) Select Additional troubleshooters from the drop-down menu.

4) Select Playing Audio -> Run Troubleshooter.

5) Follow the wizard’s instructions to complete the troubleshooting.

Method 3: Reinstall Realtek audio driver

Step 1 : Removing Driver

Method 1

Make sure you have a backup of your system. If you have a backup, you can restore your system to the previous working state. If you don’t have a backup, you can create one now.

Step 1. Open the Start menu, type Control Panel, and click the Control Panel app.

Step 2. Click on the Uninstall a program option under the Programs category. This will open a list of all programs installed on your system.

Step 3. Look for the Realtek HD Audio Manager Driver, and click the Uninstall button.

Step 4. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the uninstall process.

Method 2 

Step 1. Press the Windows key and the X key at the same time, then select Device Manager.

Step 2. Expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers by clicking on them.

Step 3. Right-click on the sound card driver and then click Uninstall.

Step 4. If the system prompts you for a confirmation, click OK.

You can follow the above steps to uninstall Realtek HD Audio Manager Driver and can follow the following steps to reinstall it again.

Step 2 : Installing Driver

Method 1 : Automatic Update

The Automatic Update option is the easiest method. It is recommended for users who are not good at computer operations. You can choose one of the two Automatic Update Methods below:

Update Realtek HD Audio Manager Drivers Automatically Using Windows Update

Step 1. Open Device Manager by pressing the Windows + R keys, type ‘devmgmt.msc’ into the Run box, and click OK.

Step 2. Right-click Sound, video, and game controllers.

Step 3. Click on “Scan for Hardware Changes”

Windows will automatically install the latest version of the Realtek driver.

Method 2 : Download the latest driver

Download the latest drivers for your Realtek HD Audio Manager from the official website.

Step 1. Go to this link.

Step 2. Click on the Download button.

Step 3. Choose Run or Save.

Step 4. The Self-Extracting window appears.

Step 5. Click OK.

Step 6. The process will start extracting the files to the hard drive.

Step 7. After the process is completed, go to the folder where the file was extracted.

Step 8. Click on the setup file.

Step 9. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the installation process.

Method 3 : Manually update Realtek HD Audio Manager Drivers

Step 1. Go to Device Manager by pressing the Windows + R keys, type “devmgmt.msc” into the Run box, and click OK.

Step 2. Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.

Step 3. Right-click Realtek HD Audio Manager and then click Update driver.

Step 4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

This will automatically update your Realtek driver. If it doesn’t then repeat the above process and instead of clicking ‘ Search automatically for updated driver software’ Choose

Step 4. Choose “Browse my computer for driver software”.

Step 5. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Step 6. Click High Definition Audio Controller.

Step 7. Click Next.

Step 8. Click Yes.

Step 9. The driver is now updated.

Make sure you are installing the correct version of the driver.
To check the correct version of Realtek HD audio software, perform the following step.

Step 1: Click Start.

Step 2: Right-click Computer, and then click Properties.

Step 3: At the left pane, click Device Manager.

Step 4: Double-click the Sound, video, and game controllers category.

Step 5: Double-click Realtek High Definition Audio Driver.

Step 6: Click the Driver tab.

Step 7: Check Driver Version.

Method 4: Update the Realtek audio driver

Method 1 : Through Device Manager

You can update your Realtek sound card’s driver through Device Manager. To do this:

Step 1: Press Windows Key + X

Step 2: Select Device Manager

Step 3: Expand Sound, video, and game controllers

Step 4: Right-click on Realtek High Definition Audio

Step 5: Select Update Driver Software

Step 6: Select Search automatically for updated driver software

If there are any drivers that windows find it should install them automatically, however it might say that the best drivers are up to date, if you want you can click on search for updated drivers.

If this doesn’t work follow Method 2

Method 2 : Manually

In method 2 you need to download and install the driver manually.
To do this make sure you are installing the correct version of the driver.
To check the correct version of Realtek HD audio software, perform the following step.

Step 1: Click Start.

Step 2: Right-click Computer, and then click Properties.

Step 3: At the left pane, click Device Manager.

Step 4: Double-click the Sound, video, and game controllers category.

Step 5: Double-click Realtek High Definition Audio Driver.

Step 6: Click the Driver tab.

Step 7: Check Driver Version.

To manually update your Realtek audio driver you need to follow these steps:

Step 1. The very first thing you need to do is to download the driver from the official website of the manufacturer.

Step 2. After you have downloaded the driver, you need to unzip it to a folder on your desktop or any other place.

Step 3. When the download is complete, you must run the setup file (Make sure that you are logged on with an administrative account).

Step 4. You must follow the instructions that will be displayed on your screen.

Step 5. When you are finished, you must restart your computer.
